The commercial application of any technology requires scaling up from bench scale to industrial scale. Process technology doesn’t have a linear formula for scaling-up, which presents a number of process modification, equipment design/selection and technology challenges and risks. The incremental scale-up of process technologies reduces the risks and costs associated with commercializing a technology.
